VISTAS & REFLECTIONS
I enjoy looking at reflections in water. I love how the gentle rippling of a breeze can slightly distort an object to make it look abstract. It is a lot of fun to photograph reflections because there are so many options for framing them with the container of the water, for example a fountain or objects on the shoreline. Vistas, on the other hand, are frustrating to photograph as it is nearly impossible for a still camera to reproduce the feeling of spaciousness and vastness of a view given the limitations of the screen, paper, canvas, etc. that displays the photograph. Vista photographs should be taken as an invitation to go see the real thing for yourself.
